Our School

Our school is located in the centre of the town of Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District of Derbyshire. We are committed to ensuring that your child's first years in formal education are happy, fulfilled and memorable!! We aim to create a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which all children can fulfil their maximum potential!

The first Church of England school was founded in 1848 and moved to its present site on Bath Street in 1872. The school comprises two buildings, separated by a playground with a small field.

The buildings in which the school is located were originally the main school in Bakewell for all children up to the age they left school. It is built on land kindly donated by the Duke of Rutland.

Bakewell C of E Infant School is a Voluntary Controlled  School serving the educational needs of the local  community. We joined the Derbyshire Diocese Academy Trust in September 2020. See below for the links.

We maintain close links with the Parish  Church and our school reflects the Christian ethos.

The Revd Canon Tony Kaunhoven is one of our Foundation Governors, and has regular and close supportive contact with our school.
